Got the pleasure of seeing one of the best alive last night when his opener, and long-time friend of the Too Far family, Rob Mailloux asked us to film his opening set (See Video Below). As for the main event, let’s just say, Jim is keeping a tight lid on this new hour of material so we won’t be spilling any of the jokes, but it’s some of his best work to date. As he has throughout his career, Jefferies is tackling the most controversial topics in Western society, with a perspective that no one else would even think to have. Like his contemporaries, what sets Jefferies apart from the average comedian is his impenetrable logic to back up his button pushing material. This being the second time I’ve seen him live, and having watched all his specials, it’s now more than safe to put Jim in the conversation with the most prolific comics around, alongside the likes of Bill Burr and Louis CK. In terms of sheer volume and quality of material, you can’t understate what he’s accomplished, and continues to on the comedy stage.
So go see him live, watch his series Legit, and if you honestly are hearing about Jim Jefferies for the first time from this blog post, then crawl out from under your cave of safe and boring comedy, get better friends, and watch everything he’s ever done.
As promised, here’s our pal Rob Mailloux crushing his opening set with arguably, the best Washington Redskins name controversy joke out there.
